If you’re going to reset your Formula 1 project, you might as well do it properly.

Alpine didn’t just reveal a new livery for 2026. They parked the car on a cruise ship in Barcelona and told the world this was the start of something different. With brand new regulations coming, a new engine partner and Flavio Briatore back in the picture, the A526 launch felt less like a photo op and more like a line in the sand.

A Cruise Ship Launch? Why Not?

Instead of a studio or factory floor, Alpine unveiled the A526 on the deck of the MSC World Europa. Sun, sea, Barcelona skyline and a Formula 1 car sitting right in the middle of it all.

It was dramatic. A little flashy. And very intentional.

Between BWT and MSC Cruises, this was as much a lifestyle event as it was a motorsport one. Alpine clearly wants to feel modern again. Less corporate. More confident. Briatore’s influence was hard to miss. This was not a quiet relaunch.

The 2026 Livery: Same Colours, Better Balance.

Let’s talk paint.

The pink and blue combo isn’t going anywhere and that’s fine. BWT pink is now part of Alpine’s identity whether people like it or not. But for 2026, the balance feels better.

There’s more Alpine blue across the sidepods, which gives the car a cleaner and more aggressive look. The pink works as an accent rather than overwhelming the whole design. It looks calmer. More serious. Like a car designed to race, not just to stand out on social media.

Small change, big improvement.

Mercedes Power Changes Everything

The biggest story isn’t the livery. It’s what’s underneath it.

From 2026 onward, BWT Alpine Formula One Team will run Mercedes-AMG power units, ending the long Renault works era. That alone changes the conversation around the team.

No more engine development debates. No more explaining performance gaps. Alpine now has one of the best power units on the grid, full stop.

That’s where the team’s new phrase comes in.

“No Excuses” Means Exactly That

Alpine has been very clear about the mindset for 2026. No excuses.

With Mercedes engines, stable regulations and a clean-sheet car, there’s nowhere to hide. The target is a proper midfield comeback, with P6 in the Constructors’ Championship very much on the table.

Pierre Gasly remains the team leader while Franco Colapinto gets a huge opportunity to prove himself in a new era. The lineup is solid. The tools are there.

Now they just have to deliver.

Final Thoughts

Launching a car on a cruise ship won’t score points on Sunday. But it does tell you something about intent.

Alpine wants to feel different in 2026. The A526 livery looks sharper, the Mercedes partnership removes long-standing doubts and the messaging is finally blunt.

This isn’t a title bid. It’s a credibility reset. And honestly, that’s exactly what Alpine needed.
